How I installed Ubuntu on a PC that only boots from its hard drive.
Step 1 Im sure there are other ways to do this, Like installing an installer on the hard drive that will install Ubuntu upon boot up from the Hard Drive. I didn't find such an article to explain how that is done so I did whats written in this article. Remove hard drive from broken PC, and install in other PC as a slave drive. Format the drive and install an older version of Ubuntu Linux.
Step 2 Now remove the hard drive and place back into the original PC,remember to set the drive to master, and boot up Ubuntu. I didn't think this would work as it was installed for another computer. However it did work for my PC.
Step 3 Once Ubuntu booted up I installed the updates. which gave me the option to upgrade Ubuntu versions, so I upgraded to the latest Ubuntu version.
