Protecting Our Children On The Internet

|

In addition to the usual Internet issues of viruses, trojans, adware and worms, when our children use the Internet, we also want to protect them from the inappropriate content and from endangering themselves by giving our personal information.

This was the subject of the National Webcast Initiative's web broadcast on October 20th. The Department of Homelant Security US-CERT and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) created the National Webcast Initiative to communicate to computer users of all experience levels.

The October 20th webcast, which is available in the archive on their web site, is called "Cyber smart in Cyber Space". At the website, you can downlod the Cyber Smart 2006 Cyber Security Calendar (aimed at 4th and 5th graders) and a Parent/Child Cyber Security Brochure.

This broadcast was geared towards 4th and 5th grade age levels, and included a skit where actors interacted with children. Over 5,000 individuals registered to participate in the free web broadcast.
