Throwing a Linux Install party will establish you as the coolest geek around, or at least the strangest. Post fliers in places likely to attract new Linux users, like college computer labs, Internet cafés and LAN, or local area network, parties. Invite all your friends to come and try a fresh installation of the latest Linux flavors, games and more.
Step 1 Burn copies of the most popular Linux installations and have them ready to install when your party guests arrive. You may want to include some of the more obscure versions just for fun.
Step 2 Tell your guests to wear all their Linux party gear, including Linux hats, t-shirts and ties. It's best to keep extras on hand in case not everybody has a Linux polo or baseball cap.
Step 3 Serve food on penguin-themed party plates with penguin napkins. You could even try to find penguin or polar-themed treats.
Step 4 Hold contests using Linux games, or judge who's computer is best. Prizes could include books, penguin caffeinated peppermints and other Linux merchandise.
Step 5 Invite knowledgeable friends to party with you and help out anyone with installation problems.
Step 6 Host a LAN so Linux party-goers can compete against each other in any games they've brought.
