How to Install Beagle on Ubuntu Breezy Badger

|

Ubuntu Breezy Badger is an open source operating system that runs similar to the Linux operating system. Beagle is a free desktop search tool that works with Ubuntu operating systems. Beagle is easy to use, but installing it can be difficult.

Step 1 Enable the universe repositories in Breezy Badger. Go to "Administration" under the System tab. Pick "Synaptic Package Manager" from the choices provided. Click on "Settings" and choose "Repositories." Click the box next to "Show Disabled Software Sources." Click "Close." You now get a new window. Scroll down the page and check the box next to "Community Maintained (Universe) Entries."

Step 2 Click on "Applications." Choose "Accessories" and "Terminal." Type "sudo apt-get install beagle" in the box provided.

Step 3 Enter the primary user or root password when you prompted. This password is the one you used when installing Ubuntu Breezy Badger.

Step 4 Install Beagle. Follow the directions on the screen. Go back to the terminal and type"gksu gedit /etc/fstab". This allows you to edit /etc/fstab.

Step 5 Find the home partition and type "user_xattr" into the section. The root partition works if there is no home partition.

Step 6Remount the partition by typing "mount -o remount /home" into the terminal. If you used the root partition type "mount -o remount /"

Step 7Reboot the computer.
