How to Take Pictures for Wallpaper Using a Sony CyberShot

|

Desktop wallpaper is simply an image that Windows applies as a background for a computer's screen. While there are many default wallpapers available in Windows, and many more available for download online, it is possible to make custom wallpaper by uploading and saving your own photos. If you have a Sony CyberShot S600 digital camera, you can take high-quality pictures that are simple to transfer to your PC. Then, with a couple of clicks, you can use them as wallpaper.

Step 1 Select the proper image size. The default image size on the Sony CyberShot is 2816 by 2112 pixels. For a wallpaper image that will not be blurry or pixelated, change the image size to 640 by 480 by pressing the "Image Size" button, which is below and to the right of the control button.

Step 2 Use the Sony CyberShot's auto focus feature to take the best wallpaper pictures. Rather than pointing and clicking, only press the button down halfway. This will set the auto focus lock. The image should appear clear and bright. Press the button fully down to take the shot.

Step 3 Install the software provided with the CyberShot S600 by inserting the CD into the drive and following the on-screen prompts. If you do not have the CD, download the camera's drivers from the Sony website (see Resources).

Step 4 Plug the small end of the USB cord into the USB jack on the side of the camera, near the scope. Plug the other end of the USB into a USB port on the computer. Wait for the "Scanner and Camera" wizard to start. The camera will display the message, "USB Mode Mass Storage."

Step 5 Select the "Copy Pictures" option in the wizard and click "Next." The photos available on the camera will be displayed. Clear the check boxes of any you do not want to download. Name the group of photos and select a location in which to save them. Click "Next." Select the "Nothing, I'm Finished" button and click "Next." Click "Finish" to close the wizard.

Step 6 Find the picture you want to save as wallpaper in the folder you specified. Right-click the photo and select "Set as Background." Windows will display a verification message. Click "Yes" to apply the new wallpaper.
