How to Install TTF Fonts on Ubuntu

|

Ubuntu is a free Linux-based operating system. Microsoft TTF fonts are not included in Ubuntu software. If you don't install them yourself, TTF fonts are replaced with generic Ubuntu fonts. Since most websites and Microsoft Office documents are designed around TTF fonts, you'll probably want to install them.

Step 1 Make sure the Universe repositories are enabled. Depending on which version of Ubuntu you have, this may be done already by default.

Step 2 Open a terminal. Type "$sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts" into the terminal and press "Enter."

Step 3 Regenerate the fonts chache by entering "$sudo fc-cache -fv" into the terminal. By doing so, you can avoid logging out and logging back in for the fonts to appear.
